Investment in hybrid fleet supports cleaning standards and lower-impact travel across 350 sites
Customers across Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire will benefit from continued hands-on cleaning support as Minster Cleaning (Northants) invests in three new hybrid vehicles for its Area Supervisors.
The supervisors provide a vital link between customers, cleaning teams and management. Their visits help identify issues early, maintain standards and give staff the support they need. The new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER vehicles will support that work while offering the prospect of lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions from essential business travel. Based on quoted figures and 60,000 combined annual miles, the switch could save approximately 1,785 litres of petrol and avoid 4.15 tonnes of tailpipe CO₂ each year.
Over three years, that represents around 12.46 tonnes of avoided emissions.
Led by Director Nick Barber, the investment targets an everyday operational activity where greater efficiency can deliver lasting benefits. Lower fuel use would reduce both running costs and environmental impact, helping Minster manage the resources needed to sustain dependable service across approximately 350 sites.
Nick Barber, Director of Minster Cleaning (Northants), said:
“Our customers value having someone who visits, understands their premises and takes responsibility for getting things right. Our supervisors make that happen, whether they’re checking standards, supporting a cleaner or dealing with an emerging issue.
“We want to maintain that personal service while reducing the environmental impact of the miles we travel. Investing in hybrid vehicles is a practical step towards that aim, putting more efficient technology into roles that depend on regular site visits.
“As we celebrate 30 years of continuous service, our focus is on what will keep delivering value for customers: well-supported staff, consistent standards and responsible investment in how we operate.
“Silverstone Leasing has supported us with vehicles for more than five years. We’ve also cleaned their offices since 2020, so each business contributes to keeping the other running smoothly. My thanks go to Tom, Mandy and the team for their continued support.”
The vehicles were handed over on 14 October by Silverstone Leasing representatives Tom Bailey and Mandy Colby. Nick attended alongside Operations Manager Cristina Budusan and Area Supervisors Vilija, Bogdan and Marcel.
Nissan’s e-POWER system uses a petrol engine to generate electricity for an electric motor that drives the wheels. Actual fuel and emissions benefits will depend on mileage and driving conditions.
With more than 200 cleaning staff serving commercial and educational premises, Minster Cleaning’s investment connects its environmental ambitions with the daily work of supporting people and maintaining customer standards
