Minster Helps Provide a Home from Home

Tuesday 6th September 2011 4:09 PM

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent charity which aims to provide free 'home away from home' accommodation at hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life.

Since opening with 26 bedrooms, the house has expanded to offer 69 bedrooms and building is underway on 15 apartments next to the house. These will be for families staying for six months or more. Each will sleep a family of 4 to 5 and will have a twin bedroom, lounge, dining area, open plan kitchen and bathroom. The total cost of the extension will be £1.5million, almost £1million of which was donated by Liverpudlian actor Ricky Tomlinson.
Minster Cleaning Services Liverpool and Wirral cleans all the common areas including lounges, offices, kitchens, the laundry and washrooms as well as the bedrooms following stays. Jan Thomas, Director of Alder Hey Family House Trust said, "Although a clean and safe environment is essential, it is also very important for cleaners to understand the needs of our residents with whom they are in daily contact.
"We have always found Minster staff to be sensitive and sympathetic, reliable, committed and dedicated. They take great pride in their work and always maintain high standards. And by using Minster, continuity of service is never an issue as they supply relief cover in the event of holidays or sickness." Mrs Jan Thomas, Director
