Thursday 1st September 2011 2:56 PM

The North West is one of the largest of England's thirteen Ambulance Trusts. NWAS employs around 4,470 staff and provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance services to a population of seven million people across an area of more than 5,500 sq miles. An ambulance station is a unique environment with a number of individual requirements.

Minster Cleaning Services Lancashire has the cleaning contracts for nine of the North West's stations where it provides a range of cleaning operations in areas which include WCs, kitchens, offices, rest rooms, corridors, mess rooms and garages.
A fully flexible, confidential service is tailored precisely for each station with detailed quality control processes, regular, rigorous audits and inspections and prioritised absence cover.BICSs (British Institute of Cleaning Science) training for the cleaners is provided as standard. This leaves station personnel free to get on with their day-to-day duties safe in the knowledge that they are delivering healthcare services which are clean and fit for purpose.
Minster Lancashire's Operations Director, Emma White, explained that there are a number of special requirements of the contract, "We use disinfectant and antimicrobial cleaning to prevent the spread of infections, the application and consistent use of colour coded equipment avoids cross-contamination and we undertake periodic deep cleans such as high cleaning, carpet cleaning and blind cleaning."
South Lancashire Operations Manager, Michael Doolan, who is based at the Preston station said that security and hygiene are amongst their highest priorities and that using a reliable, trustworthy contractor such as Minster was crucial for the efficient operation of their station, "Minster not only provides us with a high quality cleaning service which helps us to achieve the standards required for Care Quality Commission Audits; relief cleaners cover for absence and holidays to ensure that we have continuity of service and we are confident that all their personnel meet our strict security policies."
Minster Cleaning Services is trusted to clean healthcare premises across the UK and has been established for 29 years. By delivering a cleaning strategy that covers all key elements and functional areas, Minster can help providers to combat healthcare associated infections whilst achieving a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients and visitors.
